Does livestock help in compensating land inequalities in rural India: Evidencesfrom agricultural census?

Using data of various rounds Agricultural Census, the study has revealed that rural inequalities are largely attributed to disparities in ownership land leading unequal distribution income. Land during among farmer categories have remained almost constant with minor fluctuations, whereas livestock such as cattle, buffalo, horse and pony reduced drastically. The extent inequalties is also found be much larger than inequalties. Small size operated area marginal small cultivators compensated by cattle which helps mitigate caused land. concludes government policies should targeted at strengthening sustained development activities, can go a long way mitigating removing agrarian distress.
